Chris Rock Takes The Blame For His Divorce -- Yet STILL Can't Help But Shade Ex-Wife Malaak Compton!

no title
At this point in his life, Chris Rock is performing comedy bordering on tragedy.
The comedian kicked off his Total Blackout Tour in February, which marked his first high-profile tour in nearly a decade — and a lot sure has changed during that nine year hiatus.
The biggest development in Rock’s life was his split from wife of 18 years Malaak Compton-Rock, which is why the Top Five star calls his tour his “alimony tour.”

But the 52-year-old put the jokes aside in a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, and got surprisingly honest about his life-changing breakup.
Rock didn’t sugarcoat life after divorce, admitting it’s been quite the battle having to start over. He explained:

“Getting divorced, you have to fucking start over. You get to reset. It’s not a breakdown, but something in your life broke down.”

Rock had blamed his ex-wife for the downfall of their marriage in the past. But the comedian has taken fault in more recent shows, confessing he was a “piece of shit” of a husband at times.
The standup icon even got into a discussion of his philandering ways during a recent set, admitting he cheated with three women — one famous, one semi-famous, and one of the retail class.

Though Rock believed he could get away with cheating because he was the famous breadwinner in the house, he now thinks he’s held to a higher standard — which he clearly didn’t live up to. He continued:

“That’s bullshit. That actually goes the other way. My faults are magnified. Your significant other, if they really love you, has a high opinion of you. And you let them down.”

The comedian went on to say he dialed down the negativity when discussing his divorce because it’s “not healthy” — especially when Malaak doesn’t have a stage to tell her side of the story:

“It’s not fair. I have a mic, she doesn’t. God forbid people are bugging her in the supermarket. That’s not cool. I’m going to have to see her at weddings and graduations.”

We’re glad to see the comedian has taken a more mature approach when it comes to talking about his ex!

Though maybe not too mature, as Rock couldn’t help but throw some subtle shade when comparing his new girlfriend, CSI: Miami actress Megalyn Echikunwoke:

“I’m dating a girl now. She’s got her own dough, it’s amazing.”

BURN!!!
A good comedian can truly never turn off the mic…
