These days, if it’s not a remake, it’s an unnecessary sequel!
The latest to get a long-awaited follow up is the ’80s Jim Henson extravaganza Dark Crystal!
Peter and Michael Spierig, the team behind Daybreakers, will be directing the new flick, called The Power of the Dark Crystal, and apparently will also be employing the same puppetry used in the original – on top of some modern day CGI, of course!
And WTF is the plot supposed to be, exactly?
According to reports:
Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, Power of the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.
We’ll remain cautiously optimistic on this one, but we’re sure it’s not going to hold a candle to the new Tron!
Too bad! We LOVE the original Dark Crystal!
