This is BIG news, folks!!
Delaware State Senate officially passed the marriage equality bill earlier today with a 12-9 vote, making the state the 11th to support marriage equality!
Senator Bryan Townsend, a supporter of the bill, stated:
“I hope we begin to treat as equals all those who wish to announce their love and commitment to the world.”
The state’s governor, Jack Markell will sign the bill, which is set to be implemented July 1st!
Of course, there are those who are unhappy with the state senate’s decision, including Senator Robert Venables. The Senator spoke up against the bill and said:
“Things have moved a lot faster than anyone expected. I’m having problems with my own self. So far, I’ve not evolved. I wonder what’s wrong with me.”
He added:
“I don’t wish anyone ill will… [but] I think this goes too far, to say a man marries a man and a woman marries a woman.”
Well, no matter, Senator. This is AH-MAZING! GO, DELAWARE!!!
