Such a disappointment!

Ellen DeGeneres, whom we usually love love love, is not supporting the striking writers.

The comic was back at work on Tuesday and she taped an episode of her talk show.

Ellen told the audience:

“I├óΓé¼Γäóve got to say this is a strange show for me to do. This is weird. Weird. It├óΓé¼Γäós a weird show. Channeling Johnny Carson all of a sudden. [Imitates Carson] ├óΓé¼┼ôVery Weird. Weird. Weird.├óΓé¼┬¥ Here├óΓé¼Γäós what the deal is. It├óΓé¼Γäós ‘sweeps’, which is a very important time in television. That├óΓé¼Γäós when you do your best shows, your funniest material, you pull out all the stops and you├óΓé¼Γäóre doing everything you can because you want everybody watching. Now at this moment, we├óΓé¼Γäóre in the middle of this strike. There├óΓé¼Γäós a writer├óΓé¼Γäós strike going on, and here in Los Angeles it├óΓé¼Γäós a huge story. I don├óΓé¼Γäót know where you live, but it├óΓé¼Γäós a huge story in Los Angeles. I want to say I love my writers. I love them. In honor of them today, I├óΓé¼Γäóm not going to do a monologue. I support them and hope that they get everything they├óΓé¼Γäóre asking for. And I hope it works out soon. In the meantime, people have traveled across the country. They├óΓé¼Γäóve made plans. They├óΓé¼Γäóre here. I want to do everything I can to make your trip enjoyable and give you a show. Otherwise you├óΓé¼Γäód just be wandering around and circling Bob Hope Drive.”

In stark contrast, Letterman, Leno and all the other talk shows remain dark.

In fact, Jay has been on the picket lines every day and has even brought the writers donuts!

Such a shame, Ellen. Such a shame.
