Boo! Founders of Cuba's Biggest Indie Music Festival Say The Government 'Stole' Their Event!

Cuba’s Rotilla Festival is the country’s “biggest independent music festival,” and the founders of the event are accusing their government of “stealing” it from them.

Here’s what Rotilla founder Michel Matos had to say about it:

“They’re kidnapping, stealing our festival. It’s not a simple case of censorship, of them shutting it down. It’s an abduction.”

“On the one hand, they’re taking it away from us and on the other hand, they are organizing it themselves through official institutions. Up until now, we were tolerated.”

And it gets worse, because now the founders of the festival have been barred from any meetings at the Culture Ministry! WTF?

We’re really sorry to hear this, and hopefully Matos and his crew will figure out a way to reclaim their show…if not this year, then we hope soon!
