Just because you stick your neck out for someone doesn’t mean they’ll do the same!
That’s apparently the lesson Gabrielle Union learned this week after America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews seemed to downplay the actress’ reported allegations of racial insensitivity at the show — at least, that’s how a lot of people are taking it!
For those who forgot, it was reported in late November that Union and fellow judge Julianne Hough wouldn’t be returning for the talent competition series’ 15th season, with a Variety report claiming that the Bring It On star had raised concerns about a toxic culture, in addition to racial and sexist insensitivity.

From there, everything went relatively silent… until Crews spoke about Union’s firing on 3rd Hour of Today Thursday, claiming that the actress’ allegations of racial insensitivity were “never [his] experience.” Praising the show for its diverse pool of contestants, he said:
“First of all, I can’t speak for sexism because I’m not a woman, but I can speak on behalf of any racism comments. That was never my experience… in fact, it was the most diverse place I have ever been in my 20 years of entertainment.”
Gabby seemingly responded to the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star’s comments a day later, slamming the actor for throwing her “under the bus” when she publicly supported him after he came out with #MeToo allegations against an industry exec who allegedly groped him.
(After Crews made the allegations, Gabby tweeted: “Terry Crews is a stand-up guy. Literally one of the nicest people in our industry. He is honest, kind & true professional. I believe him & stand by him. #MeToo.”)

In response to a tweet from a fan who expressed “love and support” and told her to “keep standing in your truth,” the mother-of-one wrote:
“Thank u! Cuz girlllllll ? Truth telling, wanting change & having MULTIPLE witnesses who bravely came forward to let EVERYONE know I didn’t lie or exaggerate, really exposes those who enthusiastically will throw you under the bus, forgetting quickly who stepped up 4 THEIR truth.”
In a second tweet, she added:
“Why anyone would gleefully get up on TV and tell lies that NO ONE disputed… But we already know.”
We should note Crews highlighted the fact that Gabby never made a statement about the reported toxic culture or racial sensitivity since the controversy came to light.

He said during the interview:
“I have to say this, too. When you look at what the allegations were about, it was given by an unnamed source. My thing is — it’s funny because I believe you should listen to women, you should always believe women, so I asked my wife what I should do. She was like, first of all, if it’s coming from an unnamed source, because Gabrielle Union has not made any statement to this day about any of these allegations publicly … if she hasn’t made a statement, why would you?”
Well, Union might have shed light on why she’s yet to speak out publicly. In a tweet, she shared:
“Maaaaaan… We all agreed to let the investigation be completed before speaking but if we doing this… ohhhhh baby let’s gooooooooooo!”
She also said in another tweet on Friday:
“Can someone please ask abt what happens to all that diversity folks are talking about BEHIND THE SCENES. Like, legit… where the hell is all that diversity in the production though homie? In the decision making ranks who control the fate of the diversity in front of the camera?”
Sounds like America’s Got Talent’s got trouble coming its way!
