Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already become one of the most successful movies of all time.
Aside from gaining popularity with a new generation of fans, the sci-fi adventure also introduced a ton of AH-Mazing new characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

However, there was one character fans were a little disappointed in — Captain Phasma.
Not because she wasn’t awesome, but because the Storm Trooper commander — played by Game Of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie — didn’t get NEARLY as much screen time as the rest of the new cast.
Thankfully, Christie confirmed on the SAG Awards red carpet that her character would indeed be returning in Episode VIII:

“I will be in the next Star Wars movie. I think that’s an exclusive, actually.”

The 37-year-old went on to dish:

“I was very overexcited. I made no secret of the fact that I really campaigned for the part for a long time. And then I was delighted when J.J. Abrams wanted to have me in the film and then wanted to cast me in this role that had originally been designed for a man.”

Gwendoline also talked about the look of her character and how she hopes it will help give more opportunities for women in Hollywood:

“I thought the costume was incredibly striking. I also just liked this notion of a female stormtrooper. I felt it encouraged diversity and it was doing something new and it was an interesting bit of casting for women, and I hope that in something that was such a mainstream success it would breed more of those kind of opportunities for other women.”

You can check out Christie and the rest of the Force Awakens cast when they return in Episode VIII on its new release date of December 15, 2017.
