The legendary singer teased news of a new album, a world tour, and a new movement a couple weeks ago — and now we finally have more information about the ordeal!
Janet and BMG have announced they’ll be releasing a new album from the artist through her new record label, Rhythm Nation Records — keep in mind her last record made its debut SEVEN years ago!

SEVEN! That’s such a long time to wait for new music from your favorite artist!! The untitled album will be dropped this coming fall and we SRSLY could not be more excited for it!

A musician starting their own record label is like an actor opening up their own production company or directing!
What an exciting time in her life!
According to the press release about her new album and record label, Janet is basically a trailblazer:
“With Rhythm Nation Janet Jackson becomes arguably the first female African-American recording artist to form her own record label. At Rhythm Nation Janet plans to offer a home to both new and established recording artists.
The partnership with BMG makes Janet Jackson the biggest worldwide superstar yet to quit the traditional record label system for a so-called artist services deal, designed to put artists in the driving seat. Unlike a traditional record deal, under an artist services deal the artist retains ownership of their recordings and full oversight of all costs and revenues.”
It sounds like artists signed to Janet’s record label have full creative control of their own works!
That’s like, a great deal, right?
