Josie Harris, who has three children with ex Floyd Mayweather Jr., was found dead at her home on Tuesday evening.

TMZ Sports reports officials were called to her Valencia, California home around 9:30 p.m. and found Harris unresponsive in her car. She was 40-years-old.

According to law enforcement sources, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Per the outlet, there was no foul play and the case is being treated as a death investigation over a homicide probe.

As you may recall, Harris had a tumultuous relationship with the former pro boxer. He was previously convicted of attacking her during a 2010 incident and served two months behind bars. At the time, she claimed he entered her Las Vegas area home while she was sleeping, pulled her hair, and attacked her in front of their children. Her eldest son was able to sneak away to alert a security guard about the abuse who called the police.

Five years later, the violent allegations were brought up during an interview Floyd had with Katie Couric, which he denied (below) along with calling Josie a drug abuser:

“Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.”

Josie sued Mayweather for over $20 million for defamation, and the case is still ongoing.

Prior to her ex’s interview with Couric, Josie spoke at length about her experiences dating the now-43-year-old in an interview with USA Today:

“I was a battered woman. I felt embarrassed about saying I was a battered woman. I felt shame. I felt like it was my fault. What did I do? I didn’t understand what a battered woman was at that time. Now I know I was in a very dysfunctional, hostile relationship and a victim of domestic violence.”

Harris leaves behind three children with Mayweather, 20-year-old Koraun, 18-year-old Zion, and 15-year-old Jirah. They have yet to speak out or post on social media, though Koraun and Zion each changed their Instagram profile images to be of their mother. In Josie’s IG bio, she describes herself as a “lover of films, stories, family, outdoors.”

Aside from her relationship with Mayweather from 1995 to 2010, she was also known for her role on the short-lived TLC reality series Starter Wives Confidential, which also starred former girlfriends of Lamar Odom50 Cent, and others.

She was said to have been in the process of writing a book to help survivors of domestic violence. Josie also listed herself as the creator of The Exit Plan: “A BRAVE & SAFE space with tools to plan your future. First steps begin with a plan. Do what is best for yourself and make a plan for your future now.”

R.I.P., Josie. Our thoughts go out to her family, friends, and loved ones.
