Canada has spoken!
The Pan-American Games are going on right now, and Kanye West is scheduled to perform as the headliner for the closing ceremonies on July 26 in Toronto.

The only problem is, well, Canadians don’t really want him there!
Canadians from all corners have been arguing all week that the games aren’t Canadian enough to begin with, and booking American music acts instead of Canadian ones for an event in Toronto is unfortunate.
Even politicians jumped into the fray, with Toronto’s mayor John Tory first calling West a “proud product of our industry,” only to later learn that Kanye isn’t Canadian (oops!), and saying:
“I wish it’d been a Canadian. I also wish I’d known he wasn’t Canadian. But you can’t know everything.”
We’re with you, Mayor Tory — you can’t know everything.
Besides Tory, there’s already a Change.org petition circulating that has garnered more than 40,000 signatures in an attempt to keep Kanye out of Canada.
And oh yeah, Twitter spoke, too:

But get ready for it, y’all: Pitbull is also performing at the Games this summer.
