Going on with the show.
In the wake of the horrifying bombing at Ariana Grande‘s concert this week, many fans expected that the A-listers slated to perform at BBC Radio 1‘s Big Weekend would drop out of the event. However, it seems as though Katy Perry, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Shawn Mendes, and several others are refusing to let terrorists ruin the British music festival as they all still plan to perform this weekend.

Color us impressed! Nonetheless, the hitmakers’ respective teams are working closely with the venue in order to beef up security following Miz Grande’s tragic show. According to TMZ, around 50,000 people are expected to turn out for the event — with many of the attendees being young fans like the ones at the ill-fated Manchester Arena concert.
Although security was already on “red alert” for Big Weekend, event coordinators have reportedly gone above and beyond to make sure the venue is a safe space for concertgoers. And it sounds like this increase in security isn’t just for the BBC Radio 1 bash as sources say AEG and Live Nation are creating new safety plans for gigs worldwide.
Now, some artists have canceled shows out of respect for the victims in Manchester, but most musicians are continuing on with their future concert plans without any security concerns. In fact, the fate of Ariana’s tour is still up in the air.
But since the pop star is still reeling for her traumatic concert, we feel like she should take her time in deciding what she wants to do. If you’re attending a concert in the next week or so, we hope you have a great time — but stay alert!
