ICYMI: People Thought Kelly Clarkson Was Gay Because She Waited To Get Married!

Ummm… what?!
Kelly Clarkson is happily married to Brandon Blackstock, and even shares two cute kids with her main man! But, the Texas native recently told Good Housekeeping that people began to question her sexuality before she and the gorgeous guy tied the knot!

The 34-year-old dished that people assumed she wasn’t attracted to men, because she didn’t get married until she was in her 30s, saying:

“I’m from a small town in the South. Everyone thought I was gay ’cause I wasn’t married with kids already! And I was like, ‘That’s kind of insulting to the gay community!’ But, especially in this day and age, I had a very high bar.”

But, the momma-of-two doesn’t regret waiting to settle down with her manager’s son, adding:

“I think the biggest thing is just getting married later in life. ├óΓé¼┬ª You change so much in your twenties. I mean, [my husband] got married at 21 in his first marriage, and they both went, ‘What?!’ It can be very hard to grow in the same way. Your twenties are all about growth and giant [mistakes].”

And, the soulful singer explains that she and the talent manager have a beautiful balance in their relationship:

“I have an awesome life, and I can hold this down on my own. I learned that from my mother. She depended a lot, financially, on a man. I don’t depend on him, and he doesn’t depend on me. We made our own way in our own right, and I think that’s what really helps too.”

So true!
And, all that matters is that Kelly and Brandon are happy together… not how old they were when they exchanged vows!
