Kristen Bell Defends Sharing Her 5-Year-Old Daughter Still Wears Diapers After Fans Call it 'Humiliating'

Kristen Bell defends her daughter from 'humiliating' comments about her diaper use at 5 years old.

Kristen Bell is taking on mommy shamers with a refreshingly mature approach!

The Frozen star received a ton of backlash for recent comments on her #Momsplaining digital series where she admitted her 5-year-old daughter Delta is struggling to get potty trained and still wears diapers. It was all part of a broader, honest conversation about the harsh judgement moms face these days.

But almost playing right into her hand, some fans spoke out claiming K. Bell was a little TOO honest with the admission and slammed her “humiliating” choice to share it!

One concerned Twitter used wrote:

“Why would @KristenBell relate this humiliating fact about her child, along with identifying details like her name? Delta may not know about this yet, but she will: In the middle of a pandemic during her delicate formative years, her mom told the world she was still in diapers.”

Coming to her daughter’s defense, Dax Shepard‘s wife matter-of-factly replied:

“I also dont think its humiliating if ur kid wears diapers late. Everyone is different. My 5yr old wouldn’t be embarrassed even if she was in diapers during the day! She’s confident & goofy & doesn’t see anything about her beautiful unique self something to apologize for. Xo.”

Technically, it is within Kristen’s rights as a momma to share what she wants about her child who is still a minor under her care. Let’s not forget, she and Dax are pretty particular when it comes to their fam and have requested their children not be photographed for the public.

But the Twitic doubled down on her criticism, adding:

“My concern was chiefly about revealing such private information about a child to the world given your reach and fame; diapers at night may be normal for a five year old and maybe she’ll indeed grow up to be totes whatevs about it.”

“I just know I was conscious enough at 5.5 that I wouldn’t want that info out there without my express permission, and my mom wasn’t famous and covered by the news. So I hope Delta agreed you could reveal her private body information on the world stage.”

The user also shared a screenshot of Bell’s Instagram post (below), a picture of the “opinion essay” her eldest daughter Lincoln had written where she negatively characterized the way her famous mom communicates with her, and questioned if the actress has a pattern of behavior with her kids:

But the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star argued this was just another example of her stellar parenting:

“And the opinion piece is my 7 yr old, who happens to be frisky and opinionated and strong and vibrant and I encourage her to speak up when she dislikes something- & Im proud of her for telling me shes upset with me! I want her to feel comfortable speaking up, always.”

Now that’s how you politely clap back and put someone in their place!

The exchange ended on a much lighter note with the fan eventually giving in to Kristen’s explanation and relating it to her own upbringing. The user actually earning a compliment from the star, as she wrote:

“Your parents sound lovely. They’ve proven to have raised a sensitive and vocal confident woman and I hope to be as lucky.”

Oh and for anyone who’s still bothered by it all, the 39-year-old momma of two later clarified that Delta only wears diapers at night:

“It’s ok, I promise. The article was looking for sensation, and everyone fell for it as they so often do. They left out that shes only in diapers at night, which is pretty normal for a 5 yr old who’s tiny bladder cant take the 10 hr challenge yet :)”
