It’s not exactly a secret that mixing rowdy sports fans and alcohol can lead to some pretty destructive results, and with the World Cup finally kicking off, things are bound to get a bit crazy already!
Well the London Fire Brigade is warning fans and advising soccer hooligans to drink responsibly, and it all has to do with preventing Brits from cooking while drunk!
That’s right! For as strange as it might sound, the London Fire Brigade had some pretty staggering numbers on fires cause by hitting the kitchen after a few drinks, and it’s definitely no joke!
The numbers from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa definitely back it up, as there were reportedly 20 house fires a day during the last tournament! They are also saying 75% of alcohol-related fires are caused by people cooking while intoxicated, and around 25% of people who die in fires have booze in their system!
So what exactly is the solution? Well, the London Fire Brigade is urging fans to order take out or grab food from a local restaurant during the games, ESPECIALLY if you’re planning on drinking!
While the warnings were meant for our friends across the pond, it’s definitely a great reminder that soccer fans around the world should be drinking responsibly during games and to stay out of the kitchen!
