Pro-Anorexia Site Blasted For Selling Jewelry To Promote The Eating Disorder

A pro-anorexia was criticized for selling a bracelet that encourages the eating disorder, but they've since changed their site!
But maybe the negative press surrounding this issue actually did some good!
The internet was recently outraged to discover that a pro-anorexia website, My Pro Ana, was selling a “Pro Ana Red Weave Bracelet” that encouraged the life-threatening eating disorder.
The description next to the bracelet read:

“Traditionally a red beaded bracelet, the pro ana bracelet is worn as a reminder of staying true to your diet, and also to meet other Ana├óΓé¼Γäós.”

Basically, it was very apparent that the site was capitalizing off of a serious illness!
Sickening.
But shortly after attention was brought to the controversial jewelry, the bracelet’s description was slightly altered. It now reads:

“Traditionally a red beaded bracelet, the bracelet is worn as a reminder of the daily struggle all sufferers of an eating disorder experience.”

Interesting!
The newer description is obviously less ├óΓé¼┼ôpro ana├óΓé¼┬¥ than the original one…and we can├óΓé¼Γäót help but wonder if all the negative press had something to do with the change!
We mean… obviously.
Check out the two different descriptions (below)!
The site also has an introductory message that admits many users wouldn’t wish the disorder on their worst enemy, but that message is rather contradicted with many of the other forum discussions, where tips on how to live “the lifestyle” are given. The community bond seems tight and supportive, but we just hate knowing this is still such a prevalent disease.
