Neil deGrasse Tyson Sexual Misconduct

Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is under fire this weekend, facing serious new allegations of sexual misconduct from two different women.
The Cosmos host is currently under investigation by parent network Fox, as well as National Geographic and the production team of his scientific docuseries as they all collectively try to learn more about the allegations.

Two women came forward on Thursday in a piece written at Patheos, claiming unwanted and inappropriate sexual advances by Tyson.
Fox and National Geographic released a joint statement about the allegations and investigation (below):

“We have only just become aware of the recent allegations regarding Neil deGrasse Tyson. We take these matters very seriously and we are reviewing the recent reports.”

And per THR, the producers of Cosmos did the same thing (below):

“The credo at the heart of COSMOS is to follow the evidence wherever it leads. The producers of COSMOS can do no less in this situation. We are committed to a thorough investigation of this matter and to act accordingly as soon as it is concluded.”

Fox and National Geographic had previously ordered a second series of Cosmos — which originally aired as a miniseries on PBS back in 2014 — slated to begin again next year. It’s unclear if/how the show will be affected by this news.
Back in 2014, another woman had previously accused the scientist of rape in a blog post, an event which allegedly took place while the pair were classmates at the University of Texas, Austin.
