Nicki Minaj’s husband may be enjoying his new life in the El Lay fast lane, but his sex offender past has officially caught up with him — and landed him in federal custody!
According to reports, Kenneth Petty was arrested by US Marshals on an indictment for failing to register as a sex offender in California. TMZ reports Petty turned himself into the Marshals and pled not guilty in court on Wednesday.

While he won’t spend any time behind bars, with his lawyer saying he’s going to post $100,000 bond later Wednesday, Mr. Minaj is going to have to deal with some rather embarrassing repercussions for his negligence.
Apparently, the 41-year-old is being required to wear an ankle monitor and will also have a curfew. He’ll also be under pretrial supervision, leaving him without a passport, restricted to traveling only in Southern California, and unable to use drugs — even marijuana from legal dispensaries in LA.
This legal drama began after Petty and Nicki moved to California in July 2019. According to law enforcement, he got pulled over in Beverly Hills at a traffic stop on November 15 when officials determined Petty was a registered sex offender in New York state, but had yet to register in California like he was supposed to.

He was arrested and released on a $20,000 bond, with the LA County D.A. charging him for failing to register as a sex offender.
Unfortunately for Petty, it appears he never actually got around to doing that, as he was just indicted in federal court for failing to register… again!
As we reported, Petty was convicted for first-degree rape in 1995; he was 16 at the time, as was the alleged survivor. He served almost 4 years in NY state prison for the crime and was required to register as a sex offender.

Nicki, for her part, has unapologetically dismissed the legal drama. When a fan brought up the reports about her man’s conviction in 2018, the rapper wrote in her Instagram comments:
“He was 15, she was 16… in a relationship. But go awf Internet. y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”
Petty has another hearing scheduled for March 23. This may seem like it’s not such a big deal… but if convicted on the federal charge for failure to register, he faces up to 10 years in prison!
