Ian Somerhalder‘s comment about throwing out his wife Nikki Reed‘s birth control pills when they were ready to get pregnant did NOT go over well with a lot of people!
But the actress would like to clear the air after all the backlash over those who thought it wasn’t right he was taking her health into his hands!

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the 29-year-old explained the story was taken out of context:
WOMEN’S RIGHTS MATTER, so please don’t use false narratives to highlight issues that are truly important!

And in a statement about her husband’s controversial comment, she explained:
“We had countless conversations about starting a family, and it was actually me who initially said to Ian, ├óΓé¼╦£When you’re ready just let me know and let’s throw out these pills and get started.'”
Nikki isn’t here for anyone coming after Ian!
But maybe she should have clarified on the podcast?? It shouldn’t be hard for the Twilight starlet to understand why fans may be upset when the future of women’s reproductive rights is on the line!
