We LOVE The Nineties! Hooray For Reissues!

Nirvana and U2 Reiusse Records

Superstar bands Nirvana and U2 are both reissuing popular albums from the decade of flannel and good money.

In 1991, Nirvana came out with Nevermind, a record that Rolling Stone would later call the number one album of the decade and the seventeenth greatest of all time.

For their twentieth anniversary, the band plans to reissue Nevermind as a five disc deluxe edition. Due September 20, the reissue is sure to make grunge fans everywhere very happy. As for more anniversary surprises, drummer Dave Grohl says:

I wouldn’t doubt it if something very special happens – we have a few things up our sleeves. I can’t really say anything yet. But you’ll see. It’ll be fun.

Of course, Nirvana isn’t the only band about to celebrate a twentieth anniversary. For U2‘s party, they plan on reincarnating Achtung Baby packed with rare recordings and extra outtakes. U2‘s guitarist, The Edge, is very excited about it saying:

I’m blown away listening to some of the rough mixes and the outtakes. There’s some very interesting alternative versions that we discovered of songs that wouldn’t have seen the light of day, alternative lyrics, different arrangement styles ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ it’s like Achtung Baby out of focus.

Wow! Two legendary bands releasing deluxe editions of their hit records.

Old fans are sure to go crazy, but we wonder if this will bring in a younger crowd for them too.

What do U think?
