It’s an assumption one would make after hearing the band used to falsify rumors about member Niall Horan‘s sex life for fun. Yes, really.

As you know, Horan was previously linked to both Hailee Steinfeld and Ellie Goulding. As far we know, he’s currently still single. Did we miss something here? How the heck did this slightly unnecessary yet equally intriguing story even come up in the first place?
Well, it turns out Louis Tomlinson spilt the beans when he recently called into an Australian radio show called Smallzy’s Surgery. After a little chitchat about whether the star would be back in the Land Down Under any time soon, the host literally asked the 1D crooner to say something provocative that he could make a headline out of.
You gotta love a slow news day! LOLz.
After some brief hesitation, Tomlinson admitted:
“When I was in One Direction, sometimes, we just used to make up different people that Niall had slept with on tour.”
It’s hard to tell without context if the musician was being serious or not, so take a listen for yourself (below):

Hmm. Judging by the light chuckle near the end, we’re inclined to believe Louis simply gave the interviewer what he wanted. We mean, the story caught our attention didn’t it? If it is true, we’re going to need way more details, Louis!
Plus, the wild tale does sound like another one of the group’s infamous pranks. Die-hard fans of the Story Of My Life singers know they’d often pull less-salacious tricks, like randomly switching up their song lyrics, whenever they could.
The singer-songwriter previously told E! News their antics were always “stupid and random…just something for fun.”
Perhaps they’ve fooled us again! But, while we’re on the topic of the disbanded boy-band, it’s not out of the realm of possibility they could get back together one day.
Last month, Harry Styles opened up about the idea of a 1D reunion to Rolling Stone. He said:
“I don’t think I’d ever say I’d never do it again, because I don’t feel that way. If there’s a time when we all really want to do it, that’s the only time for us to do it, because I don’t think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we’re all like, ‘Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again.'”
Referencing his own solo career, he continued:
“But until that time, I feel like I’m really enjoying making music and experimenting. I enjoy making music this way too much to see myself doing a full switch, to go back and do that again. Because I also think if we went back to doing things the same way, it wouldn’t be the same, anyway.”
