'Queer Eye' Star Karamo Brown Reveals He & Antoni Porowski Used To Have 'Extreme Amount Of Conflict' On Set!

Karama Brown reveals secret drama on Netflix's 'Queer Eye.'

Ever since the new members of Queer Eye assembled for Netflix‘s highly-anticipated series reboot, it seemed like all things just kept getting better!
The new Fab Five — comprised of Tan France, Bobby Berk, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, and Antoni Porowski — became this perfect blend of personalities suited to make better (not makeover!) each “hero” in need, while capturing the hearts of millions of viewers at home.
But recently, QE Culture expert Karamo revealed that he and castmate Antoni were actually beefing for most of season one!

The 38-year-old TV personality opened up about the conflict with Porowski to E! NewsJustin Sylvester on Just the Sip. Brown stopped by the show to promote his new memoir, Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope, when the topic eventually came up.
Speaking candidly, he revealed:

“My castmate from Queer Eye, Antoni, people didn’t know that we had an extreme amount of conflict. We did not talk to each other at all during season 1, even though we were shooting together.”

Karamo shared that and the Food and Wine expert always kept it professional while filming, and focused on the task at hand:

“On camera, it was always about that person and about creating something successful, so that was genuine. Before we would go on camera, we would say to each other, ‘This is not about us. It’s about this person.'”

But once the cameras stopped rolling, the reality TV star says the two men couldn’t even be in the same room together:

“But off camera, the minute that camera stopped rolling, ‘Girl don’t come near me.’ And vice versa, he didn’t want me to come near him.”

This feels like an appropriate time for us to ask …can you believe?!?!

As we mentioned at the top, it’s really hard to wrap our heads around the fact that these costars didn’t like each other from the start. Especially when you factor in how well they played it cool on-screen. We would have never guessed this tea would be spilled one day!
But then again, we’ve heard similar stories of conflict behind-the-scenes from other groups of men, including boy bands like One Direction and The Jonas Brothers before the split. So, we guess this might be a similar case, right?
The star didn’t dive deep into why their beef started, but he did admit that “someone in-house” made the drama worse.

“Our personalities got along, but then a third party got involved and once that third party got involved, he and I couldn’t even talk to each other. We were too busy hearing rumors of what this third party was spreading about both of us.”

The author and TV host said it was an eye-opening moment when they both realized “there was a third toxic party messing with us.” The two reconciled after having an hour-long conversation over their differences.
In the end, Karamo says they both came to the realization that they needed to make peace with each other, saying:

“We were like, why did we just go through all those months of b.s.”

Fans of the show can breathe easy knowing that drama is long over now! But we’d be lying if we said we didn’t still have more questions… like who was that third-party involved?!
If you’re still itching for more answers or a refill on that piping-hot tea, you can listen to Antoni and Karamo hash it out on the first episode of Brown’s new podcast HERE.
