Paris, France…the city of selfies?
The city is looking to dissuade couples from attaching padlocks to various aging bridges on the Seine by asking them to upload romantic, hashtagged selfies onto a website dedicated to enduring love instead.
Sure, we all know there’s nothing as romantic as a cold, steel lock affixed to an ancient bridge especially if you and your lover happen to be locksmiths, but these selfies will help make a difference!
Apparently, the padlocks are causing the bridges’ railings to come down, so their solution? The hopefully soon to be trending hashtag #lovewithoutlocks!
This campaign is aimed to stop this tradition that only began about a decade ago, and already large stickers in French, English, and Spanish have been stuck on the Pont de l’Archeveche, saying the bridges “can’t resist your love.”
So, if you’re in Paris, don’t lock yourself out, so to speak. Selfie it!
