Simon Cowell May Have Given Mel B The Encouragement She Needed To Walk Away From Her Allegedly Abusive Husband

Simon Cowell is more than just a good colleague to Mel B, he is also a loyal friend.
As we previously reported, the Spice Girls alum is currently wrapped up in a messy divorce battle as she’s accused her ex, Stephen Belafonte, of emotional and physical abuse.

While we knew her X Factor costar had arranged for Scary Spice to stay in a hotel following a stint in the hospital in 2014, it seems the mother-of-three FINALLY left Belafonte for good after Cowell urged her to do so.
Apparently, Simon and others picked up that something serious was going on at home. Although Mel B made various excuses for her injuries, it was the American Idol judge who confronted the British singer about her husband.
It’s said Simon called Stephen “a bad guy,” “bad news,” and regularly pushed his friend to leave Belafonte. Despite having attempted to leave her husband numerous times, it’s believed Mel B credits Simon for inspiring her to really pull the plug.
Now that’s friendship!
