Stevie Wonder Reveals He's Taking A Break From Performing To Undergo Kidney Transplant

Stevie Wonder kidney transplant

Our thoughts are with Stevie Wonder!!!
The legendary singer and longtime live performance icon was in the middle of his set on Saturday at the British Summer Time Music Festival in Hyde Park, when he abruptly stopped everything to announce that he was going to be taking an indefinite hiatus from performing in order to undergo a kidney transplant. Oh, no!

During the show, Wonder paused at one point to break the news to the audience, informing fans that he’d be doing just three more shows altogether before going on an indefinite hiatus. The procedure, according to Wonder’s talk on stage there this weekend, will take place at some point in September, after which he’ll likely have a longer period of rest and recovery, as well.
Though the crowd was at first audibly shocked by the news, the legendary singer himself didn’t seem too phased by it; he repeatedly said “I’m all good, I’m all good, I’m all good,” according to video clips from the event, and he informed the crowd that he was happy about the doctors who were going to be doing the procedure. Additionally, he informed everyone he’d already found a donor, and was in a good situation there.
Thank goodness!!!
As you can see in the video clip, people seemed shocked at first (below), but after realizing that Wonder was in a good situation as far as his health is concerned, they showed him plenty of love after he made the announcement:

Obviously it’s a serious operation and a big-time health change, but it’s so wonderful and heartwarming to see al the love pouring in for Wonder after he opened up to the crowd there!
As he explained in that video clip, too, he wanted to let the world know what was going on, if only to stay one step ahead of the rumor mill and be real with his fans about what to expect from him in the coming months and beyond.

From our end, we can’t help but send good thoughts and plenty of prayers to Stevie right now! Here’s to a SUPER speedy recovery from a very serious procedure like this, and here’s to hoping Wonder can get back to his old self in 2020 (or whenever!) and once again wow us with his incredible performing talent!
Get well soon, Stevie Wonder! We’re sure to miss you when you’re gone for the next few months!!
