A California teenager was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after causing a fatal car accident that she recorded live on Instagram.
Obdulia Sanchez (above) was taken into custody after Friday’s crash that killed her 14-year-old sister and severely injured another 14-year-old girl. The 18-year-old driver was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Sanchez was driving under the influence southeast of San Francisco when the car veered onto the right shoulder of a road.

The Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke says the driver overcorrected, causing the car to swerve across lanes and roll over into a wire fence and then into a field. Neither passenger was wearing her seatbelt.
Family members confirmed to KFSN that Sanchez was live streaming on Instagram before, during, and after the crash — even after she realized her little sister Jacqueline Sanchez had been ejected from the vehicle and killed.
Sanchez reportedly said in the video:
“I killed my sister, but I don’t care. I killed my sister. I know I’m going to prison, but I don’t care. I’m sorry baby. I’ma hold it down.”
Just… wow. We have no words.
Relatives say Jacqueline, a Stockton native, was supposed to celebrate her Quinceanera on Sunday.
Mary Hernandez of Stockton recorded the disturbing clip to point out the life-ending risks of live streaming on the road. She explained:
“At first we didn’t even want to believe it was real. I recorded it and posted it mainly because as someone who uses Snapchat I see a lot of people driving with their Snapchats doing what she was doing so to me it was like an eye opener.”
The video has been taken down, as it is being examined by the CHP as part of the investigation. Sanchez is being held on $300,000 bond.
