Swingin’ Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch is going to have to find himself a new partner for all those sexy Hollywood parties. His wife of nearly five years, Mollie Gates, filed for divorce from the popular TV star on Thursday, May 28!
She listed their official date of separation as being nearly a week prior to that — Friday, May 22 — while citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the end of their marriage, according to E! News.

A source spoke to the outlet about the couple’s split, putting a positive spin on everything there by saying:
“They still care deeply for each other and will move forward as friends.”
Friends, you say? The 38-year-old Middleditch and his 33-year-old now-estranged wife didn’t share any children together in their nearly five years of matrimony, but they did share, um, each other! With other people.
For those who missed it, the Middleditch & Schwartz star himself outed his open relationship with his wife, revealing in a controversial interview last year with Playboy that the couple was into swinging and swapping!
He admitted shortly after the two exchanged vows back in August 2015, he felt the tug for something non-traditional — and when he approached Gates about it at the time, she was up for it:
“Only after I got married was I like, ‘Mollie, I’m sorry, but we have to get nontraditional here.’ To her credit, instead of saying ‘F**k you, I’m out,’ she was like, ‘Let’s figure this out.’ To be honest, swinging has saved our marriage.”
That’s, uh, one heck of an admission, isn’t it?!
Could it be the reason his wife is leaving? We mean, there’s no way she gave him the green light to spread that all over the Internet, right? Think about her parents having to hear about that!

Just last month, the HBO star went on The Last Laugh podcast and conceded his big open interview about swinging might have crossed the line juuuuuust a little bit. Talking to the hosts about his regret for speaking so openly about the ex-couple’s non-traditional sex life, Middleditch said on the show:
“To be honest, it’s a thing I wish I could take back. It was poor execution. But I’ve learned to keep things a little more close to the chest. It was a painful [learning experience], to be honest. So I think the best thing I can do is just move on. I wasn’t expecting it. It’s disheartening. It’s embarrassing. And it’s changed my relationship with the media and what I think about it.”
Not just his relationship with the media either, apparently! Mollie has apparently had enough and is moving on.
Here’s hoping Thomas can do the same!
