Tom Brokaw felt the wrath of social media after he made xenophobic comments about the Latino community that (rightfully so) did NOT go over well.
The NBC News special correspondent appeared on a Meet The Press panel where he and other panelists discussed the Venezuelan dictatorship, uniting the country, and Tom’s take on how conservatives feels about a rising Latino/Latina population in the United States.

While his initial comments about conservatives being fearful of “brown grandbabies” weren’t his personal thoughts (that we know of), saying that he believes “Hispanics” need to “work harder” to assimilate into the United States by speaking English to make others comfortable is SO not okay!!
He attempted to come back from his comments via a Twitter apology, but it obviously didn’t go over too well either:
i feel terrible a part of my comments on Hispanics offended some members of that proud culture

At the end of the day, he’s not apologizing for the ignorant thing he said, he’s apologizing that he let it be heard on national television. We NEED to do better!!
