Sean Penn is a very philanthropic man.
However, one of his endorsements does not sit well with a former co-star.
Penn openly supports Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez and Maria Conchita Alonso took an opportunity to speak her mind while meeting him at LAX.
Conchita recounts the incident with the following:

As we're sure you all have heard, Kim Kardashian isn't the only megastar helping out in Haiti this week. Oprah Winfrey traveled down to the devastated country with her friend Sean Penn, to visit with the people and bring some much needed attention to the area.
In footage from their trip (above), you can see them walking through a small town, taping an interview Oprah's new show and speaking to the press themselves about their trip to help Haiti.
Woman always did have a big heart! No doubt she's doing some real good there right now.

As of this week, Oprah Winfrey is in Port-au-Prince with Sean Penn to try and offer aid to the poor souls who were made homeless due to the 2010 earthquake. However, it seems her presence has done more harm than good, at least to one journalist who was caught in the crossfires of her security detail.
It seems Big O's camp didn't realize the man was a legit journalist, not a paparazzi. A fellow member of the press actually saw a guard drag the Haitian photographer into a small police station at the camp where Sean and Oprah were visiting. The police interrogated him for over and hour and a half, insisting that he erase his camera memory if he was to be let free. Finally, a senior police inspector arrived ordered the photographer released.

Such wonderful news!
Back in 2009, American hikers Joshua Fattal, Shane Bauer, and Shane's fiance Sarah Shourd were sent to prison by Iranian police on charges of trespassing and suspicion of being American spies.
Then in 2010, Sarah was released, but both Shane and Joshua were kept in prison until September 2011, when they were freed thanks to the effort of Amnesty International, the prisoners' families, other human rights organizations, and Sean Penn.
Now Shane and Sarah have announced that they're getting married (above), and we are so happy to hear it!
Their strength through this lengthy, horrific situation is incredibly inspiring to us!

Sean Penn has decided to direct the upcoming indie feature called The Comedian.
The movie, written by Art Linson with Jeffrey Ross, will be starring Robert De Niro and Kristen Wiig!
We love us some Wiig, so we're pleased to hear they've chosen her.
