Mindy McCready committed suicide on Sunday with a self-inflicted gunshot, and after learning that prescription drugs and alcohol were found in her system at the time of her death — she's also the fifth person to pass that appeared on VH1's Celebrity Rehab within the last two years.
The show ran from 2008 to 2011, and had a total a five seasons.
Referencing McCready's death, the show's former host, Dr. Drew Pinksy said:
Lisa Lampanelli has been struggling with food addiction for 32 years now, and even though she knows she has a serious issue and likes to joke about it on account of being a comedian — she does not take negative comments lightly.
The insult comic wrote about her issue with men and food last week on xoJane, and despite the fact that she thought she was making a breakthrough, people just started hatin' on her like CRAZY!
And now, to clear up what the heck she really meant, she responded to her reader's comments:
Dr. Drew Pinsky might be in huge trouble if it can be proved that he was paid to talk up Wellbutrin and its antidepressant effects!
Did they slip him a hundo (short for hundred dollar bill) before he gave talks on his radio show??
Nope, try $275,000 (allegedly).
All of this came about during the justice department's case against drug company GlaxoSmithKline, which has agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor criminal charges and pay $3 billion for committing healthcare fraud.
Which is the largest fraud settlement like that in U.S. history.
Back in 1999, Dr. Drew allegedly was paid the money over two months in “settings where it did not appear that [he] was speaking for GSK.”
Maybe people shouldn't do shady things like this — then they wouldn't get into trouble down the road!
