Sad Keanu Writes An Ode To Happiness

Filed under: Silly! > Keanu Reeves

We're so glad he can have a sense of humor about that whole Sad Keanu thing.

So, anyway, Keanu Reeves wrote a book. And it's about sadness, which is absolutely perfect considering the source.

The book, titled Ode to Happiness, started out as a joke, but after friends heard of the book, they all wanted copies.

Keanu says explains the book's creation:

"I was in my kitchen hanging out with my friend Janey, and the radio was on. And this station was playing, like, an orgy of depressing, self-pitying, nostalgic music … It was so voluptuously horrible. And I just started to write on this piece of paper, because I had this image of, you know, that moment when you take a bath, you light that candle, and you're really just kind of depressed. And it was making Janey laugh so hard, I just kept going, piling on the self-pity."

Each page in the book features a somber line in blot letters that look like they've ben smudged by tears. The ending shows a single black hole, with the matching words, "It can always be worse."

And to make things even better, he plans on making a book of dark poems. He says, "I'm considering another idea I call Haikus of Hope. Basically like, 'I want to kill myself,' and go from there."

LOLz! Who knew Keanu had such a sense of humor?

Thank goodness for his ability to laugh at himself. He just fills our lives with joy and mirth. Honestly.

Keanu Reeves To Star In Akira??

keanu-reeves-to-star-akira.jpg

Inneresting choice.

Keanu Reeves is just the latest name that's been thrown in the ring to star in the anime/manga project Akira.

Warner Bros. has considered all of Hollywood's hot young actors including James Franco, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Robert Pattinson to star in the film adaptation.

But, looks like Keanu is their main guy as he's already had talks with the studio to play the role of Tetsuo.

You know what? We actually like this casting choice. Keanu has proven to be a bankable star and he just has the right touch to be in this film.

What do U think of Keanu in Akira?

Earlier this month, Ted" Theodore Logan, um, we mean Keanu talked a little bit about the movie's plot:

"When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened. So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."

LOLz! Of course that's the plot. Wouldn't expect anything less. Here's hoping for another Genghis Khan cameo!

"I believe the writers are six weeks away from a draft [laughs]. No pressure, guys!"

"I know a little bit. But I don't know — the fellas went off and cooked it up. I don't know what happened when they put the elements together."

"When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened. So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."

James Franco Collaborates With Gus Van Sant For Art Exhibit

James Franco amazing

This is a big year for James Franco and it looks like it just got bigger.

First he made a splash in the Oscar film race, then he hopped on board to host it, but now the actor is making a splash in the art world too!

Gagosian Gallery in El Lay has announced an exhibition, going by the named Unfinished, by Gus Van Sant and James Franco set to run from February 26th until April 9, 2011.

The collaboration between the director and actor features two films, Endless Idaho and My Own Private River, which Franco edited together using unseen footage from Van Sants 1991 film My Own Private Idaho starring Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix.

According to a press release:

For Endless Idaho, Franco edited outtakes, deleted scenes, alternate takes, and behind-the-scenes footage from My Own Private Idaho into a 12-hour film. Endless Idaho provides an unprecedented look into the workaday process of making a movie, from location scouting to repeated takes. Like many of the films of Andy Warhol, a major influence on Van Sant's own auteur style, it is a provocative, often riveting blend of documentary and fiction. Interviews with actual hustlers who played secondary characters in My Own Private Idaho are intercut with shots of River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves improvising and refining their performances under the direction of Van Sant and his crew. The music for Endless Idaho was composed by Luke Paquin and Tim O'Keefe. By contrast, My Own Private River consists largely of shots of Phoenix 's character, Mike, woven into a compelling portrait. Franco describes being mesmerized by Phoenix 's "uninhibited acting" in this unreleased footage, and his edit captures the gifted actor at his most emotionally expressive and physically dynamic. The score is by Michael Stipe, who is an art school drop-out.

Don't worry, Gus made something for the exhibit too! The press release continues:

"The films are accompanied by eight works on paper by Van Sant, which translate his acute directorial sensitivity with regard to human nuance and gesture in film into the immediacy of watercolor. With the same subtle powers of observation that distinguish his filmmaking, he has created portraits of young men who recall characters in My Own Private Idaho — defiant, circumspect, and devil-may-care insouciants. Working from photographic images found on the internet, Van Sant has created vivid impressions of his incidental icons, employing brushwork that alternates broad, limpid strokes with an assiduous attention to detail and a varied palette of both washed out tones and dense, electric hues."

Inneresting.

If we ever have an extra 12 hours laying around, we might have to check this out one of these days.

Jennifer Aniston Wants Us To Know That She Is Happy

jennifer aniston assures the world shes happy

Forget what you may have heard! Jennifer Aniston wants to assure the world that she's a happy person.

Here's what she had to say about it in the new issue of People:

"I'm really happy. Really!"

"I think people honestly just want to see me as a mom and married and barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, and I just want to say, 'Everybody, relax! It's going to happen.' "

Aww…don't worry, Jennifer! We know it'll happen!

Besides, we're much more skeptical about Keanu Reeves' happiness than yours. LOLz!

Do U think Jennifer Aniston is an overall happy person?
