We have heard a LOT of opinions already about the ludicrously quick demise of the Golden Bachelor marriage. But what do expect from something so cray??
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist called it quits after just three months. Even by reality TV standards, less than a single change of season, in which the newlyweds didn’t even live together feels like a sham of a marriage. Many viewers have speculated as much. Fits with what we’ve heard about Gerry’s false TV image, right?

But what if they really did learn they were fundamentally incompatible? What if Gerry discovered something he couldn’t stand about Theresa that never came up in the contained conditions of the ABC show? Former Bachelor Ben Higgins heard something about the couple he just had to share on his podcast. On Monday’s episode of Almost Famous, he began:
“This is a rumor. I want to be clear that as I preface this, this is a rumor of a generalization of a conversation that Gerry and Theresa had, and I think you’re gonna find it interesting.”
We do! We do! He explained the rumor goes that “on Theresa’s visit to Indiana, Gerry picked Theresa up at the airport” and they already hadn’t been “seeing eye-to-eye in life.” In fact, the way he heard it they weren’t even together together at that time despite being married, but they were still trying to get to know one another. And there’s nothing like a road trip for that!
Ben heard that during the two-hour drive to Gerry’s lake house, through miles and miles of corn fields, Theresa remarked at the landscape:
“‘Wow, look at all this beautiful untouched land. Think about what could be done if they developed it. Condos, office buildings, apartments. Think about the towns that could congregate in these open fields and think about the people that would be interested in moving here. And look at that lake. There’s a lake with only cornfields around it. Think about if they build up a resort where people could vacation to.'”
You might guess where this is going. He didn’t cotton to the finance sector vet’s ideas about the heartland:
“And Gerry’s comment back to her, again, a rumor, was, ‘You don’t take land from a farmer.’ This was a big start to them disagreeing on how they saw the world and what they imagined for the world and how they wanted to invest into the world.”
Yeesh! Obviously we have no idea if this happened, but YOWZA! This is a picture of two people who are just so different they should never have gotten to the stage of walking down the aisle. Too bad they didn’t actually get to know one another all those weeks filming the show, right?
