Wow. New Jersey must really be desperate for jurors!
They’ve reached the point where they’re summoning DOGS to report to court to fulfill their civic duty!

A Bridgeton man received a letter in his mailbox from the Cumberland County court, addressed to his dog IV (said like Ivy)!
Barrett Griner says he was confused to see that his five-year-old German Shepherd was getting mail, but then when he opened the envelope, he couldn’t believe what his government wanted!
His dog was being asked to serve jury duty!
IV is smart but not THAT smart!
But there is some explanation to all of this!
Barrett’s full name is Barrett Griner IV! So the court’s computer system must have taken what they thought was his last name and put the roman numerals as the recipient’s first name!
So it was Barrett, not IV being asked to report for duty!
Aw! We were really hoping that this pooch would get her day in court!
If there WERE dogs on juries, we doubt anyone would ever get upset about being called up for jury duty!
