What is going on with Amanda Bynes??
Less than a month ago, the What A Girl Wants star was apparently healthy and happily engaged — now we’re hearing she’s single again already AND headed back to a psychiatric facility!
According to a new report in The Blast, Amanda met with a judge last week regarding her conservatorship.
As we told you after her big engagement news dropped on Valentine’s Day, Amanda is still actually under the thumb of her mother, Lynn Bynes, who serves as her conservator — and has the legal authority to make decisions such as whether her daughter can even get married, despite her being 33 years old.

As we quickly learned, Lynn did NOT approve of Amanda’s engagement to Paul Michael, whom she met in Alcoholics Anonymous — and whom we subsequently heard her parents had never even met. A source told Us Weekly:
“Amanda’s mother doesn’t have any issue with her daughter requesting a hearing regarding the conservatorship. Lynn feels Amanda isn’t in any capacity to make any decisions about her care or treatment. Lynn will request that Amanda remain in a controlled environment.”
And so they all went to court last Thursday, Amanda, her parents, AND the man who — at the time — was still her fiancé. Amanda was reportedly asked for details about her mental state, as well as the quickie engagement. Apparently the judge was not satisfied with her answers because not only did they not grant approval for Amanda to get married, they ordered her to check back in to a psychiatric facility!
So sad.
In fact, we’re now hearing this was the real reason Paul broke up with her. We’d heard it was about the “obstacles of the conservatorship” but we had no idea that meant the fact she was going to be remanded to a facility instead. According to The Blast, Paul met with the judge in private and “freaked out” after learning all the details of his betrothed’s situation. We would have thought it was pretty well publicized… maybe there’s even more we still don’t know??
Unfortunately there’s no good news here; despite being ordered to a facility Amanda may not be in the safest place right now…
According to the report, the child star and would-be fashion designer agreed at the secret hearing to the judge’s decision and said she would admit herself over the weekend — and so was not taken into custody directly from the courthouse.
However, she never showed up. And now we’re hearing she is refusing to cooperate once again.
Sadly this is beginning to sound like history repeating itself.
