Wow, we didn’t see this one coming!
Just a few days after Amber Heard settled her ongoing legal battle with Johnny Depp, the actress revealed her plans to donate her entire settlement sum ($7 million dollars), to various charities.

According to Heard, half will go to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) while the other portion will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
In a statement, the actress revealed:

“The donation will be divided equally between the ACLU, with a particular focus on helping defend battered women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where I have worked as a volunteer for the past 10 years.”

How kind!
The celeb went on to add:

“Money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves. Hopefully this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most.”

Hmm… we wonder if Amber’s altruistic claims will hold up against her many detractors. We definitely think this a good start, though!
As for the Children’s Hospital, they couldn’t be more happy with the donation:

“Her generosity will support the lifesaving treatments and cures that CHLA provides for critically ill children each year.”

Aww. It’s nice to see a negative situation have some silver lining.
So, what do YOU think about Heard’s decision?
