***SPOILER WARNING***

It’s finally here!
The American Horror Story season finale is upon us, and it with it, a whole lot of death!
We’ve had a love/hate relationship with Freak Show this year, but Ryan Murphy sure does know how to keep us on our toes.
So without further ado, let’s get into the review of Wednesday night’s finale:
The episode begins right where last week’s left off, with Dandy (Finn Wittrock) running the show. Unfortunately for him, the freaks don’t love his idea to make the show all about his singing, so they all decide to quit!

We then get to see Elsa (Jessica Lange) trying to make it in Hollywood, but she doesn’t have much luck until she meets another German named Michael (David Burtka).
Back at the camp, Dandy regains his homicidal spirit and murders Paul (Mat Fraser), Penny (Grace Gummer), Suzi (Rose Siggins), Ima (Chrissy Metz), Eve (Erika Ervin), and a bunch of the other freaks but spares Bette and Dot (Sarah Paulson), only to tie them up.

Jimmy (Evan Peters) eventually makes his way back to the freak show after getting his new hands but finds every single one of his family dead, with the exception for Desiree (Angela Bassett) whom was able to avoid Dandy’s murderous rampage.

The twins are then forced to marry Dandy, but drug him with Des’ help instead!
The remaining freaks lock Dandy in a magician’s box and slowly fill it with water, telling him if he wants to live, he has to escape like the freak he so badly wants to be.

Years later, a flash-forward tells us that Elsa has won three Emmys and has made it onto the Hollywood walk of fame, while also marrying Michael.
However, things aren’t exactly as they seem, and Elsa and Michael aren’t exactly happy…

After resisting a Halloween show over fear of summoning Edward Mordrake (Wes Bentley), Elsa agrees to the act when her contract is at risk when the truth about how she lost her legs comes out.
The season ends with a pregnant Bette and Dot living happily with Jimmy; Desiree having a family of her own; and Elsa being sent to a sort of purgatory by Edward and Twisty (John Carroll Lynch).

We get to see Elsa one last time at the freak show with all of the deceased freaks, including Ma Petite (Jyoti Amge) and Ethel (Kathy Bates).
That was a surprisingly well-thought out ending, but the rest of the episode was rather terrible. We were strung along falling in love with these characters for a whole season, only to have all of them die with barely any fight.
Will we ever learn!? Probably not… so make sure to tune in next season when we do this all again.
P.S. We’re putting our money on an ’80s-inspired summer camp theme!
P.P.S. Our official ranking of the seasons: Asylum. Murder House. Freak Show. Season 5 that hasn’t happened yet. Coven.
