Church Of Satan Isn't Happy With Its Depiction In 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse'

No group is safe from appropriation these days — not even Satanists!
The Church of Satan isn’t pleased with how it’s being represented on American Horror Story: Apocalypse and has taken to Twitter to clarify a few things about themselves.
In Wednesday night’s episode Return to Murder House, [SPOILERS!] a fresh-out-of-hell Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts) and warlock Behold Chablis (Billy Porter) take a trip back to the titular Murder House where the horror began in season 1 to get some dirt on season 8’s baddie, the Antichrist, Michael Langdon (Cody Fern).

Thanks to several applause-inducing cameos from Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, and Jessica “I’m Constance Langdon and this is my f**king house” Lange, we learn that Michael came of devilish age when he was visited by a fictionalized version of Church of Satan founder Anton LaVey and two lackeys (Kathy Bates and Naomi Grossman), who perform a sacrificial ritual and feed teen Michael the heart of a young woman.
It was horrifying, nauseating, and, according to the Church of Satan, a complete misrepresentation of what they’re actually about.
The Church’s official Twitter account sounded off on Ryan Murphy’s “Devil Worship drivel” Wednesday night, letting everyone know that associating Satanism with the “Antichrist” and “sacrifice” is so passe. They tweeted:

The Church also (figuratively) burned Bates after she tweeted about wanting to read the bible following last night’s hellish episode:

Don’t mess with the Baphomet, or you’re gonna get the horns… in the form of some vicious Twitter replies.
