Cameron Boyce's Final Interview Before Death Was All About Family, Heritage, And Giving Back

Cameron Boyce

Two months before Cameron Boyce passed away suddenly over the weekend, the Disney star gave what wound up being his final interview.
The Haute Living profile was meant to be simply a long look at the career of a young star on the rise; sadly it now serves as a memorial.
In the interview, the Descendants star comes across as classy, honorable, and incredibly professional — all things fellow celebs have also said about him in their glowing tributes.

Speaking about the bigger picture surrounding his career, Boyce opened up about the “long line of difference makers” in his family who helped cultivate in him a passion to work hard at his craft — and help make the world a little bit better.
He said (below):

“I’m following in the footsteps of some really strong men and women who have showed me what it means to give back. It’s the greatest way to fulfill yourself. Every time I talk to someone who shares that similar passion, we talk about how there aren’t many feelings more euphoric. Changing someone else’s life positively changes yours for the better as well.”

Wow — talk about a kid being mature beyond his years, and somebody who really understood and honored those who came before him!
Speaking of those who came before him… the Disney star also opened up about his grandmother, Jo Ann Boyce, who was among the first group of black students to desegregate a high school in the South way back in 1956.

Cameron opened up about the difference she’d made in his life, too, saying:

“She’s a huge part of who I am. Being African American and Jewish, I have plenty of ancestors and family members that I can look to for strength, and more importantly, for a grateful outlook on life. Every one of them clawed and scratched for my sister and I to be in the position we’re in today.”

Very well said!!!
And the whole thing came full circle with is own advocacy for The Thirst Project, which saw him raise more than $30,000 to help solve the global water crisis in the months before his passing.

He said about his activism (below):

“Many people have the heart to give back, but a lot don’t know how to. I try to be the bridge for those people– whether that means getting them involved in one of my campaigns or inspiring them by showing them a blueprint of how to get others engaged.”

Impressive…
Clearly, judging by his own words here and those this week from all who knew him, we lost this young man WAY too soon.
Rest in peace, Cameron…
