The Daytime Emmys Drew More Controversy Than Viewers With THIS Rape Joke! What Were They Thinking??

daytime emmys red carpet coverage controversy rape joke
The Daytime Emmys were live streamed online only this weekend. But maybe it’s better they didn’t make it to TV.
Hoping to snag the elusive millennial demo, the National Academy Of Television Arts and Sciences went with some unusual choices with its red carpet coverage.
Vloggers Brittany Furlan, Lauren Elizabeth, Jessica Harlow, and Meghan Rosette seem to have been hired strictly for their presence on social media, because things like poise, good humor, and respect were definitely NOT on their resumes!
Not only did the foursome seem to recognize less than half of the daytime TV stars they interviewed, they couldn’t keep from groping most of them!
The harassment of the hunky guys came to a head with General Hospital star Ryan Paevey, to whom Furlan spouted:

“We’re going to get you away from us before we rape you.”

Wow. Not OK, guys.
The constant stream of come-ons and off-color jokes (literally – they introduced The Bold & The Beautiful‘s Lawrence Saint-Victor as a “beautiful chocolate man”) got a strong social media reaction alright!
Twitter exploded with viewers demanding that NATAS fire the foursome and apologize!
Something tells us these ladies won’t be up for any statues themselves next year.
