Puppy Born With Cleft Palate Saved From Getting Put To Sleep!

Meet Fiona, an American bulldog puppy with an extraordinary story.
Back in February, the owner of Fiona’s pregnant mother brought her to the vet.
When Fiona was born with visible birth defects — a cleft lip and a cleft palate — the owner, who breeds dogs, deemed her not “show quality.” He then requested the puppy be euthanized.

How Cruella de Vil-esque! Fortunately, the vet who delivered Fiona reached out to the Sonoma Humane Society, who took the adorable dog in at just 3 hours old.
Given Fiona’s cleft lip and palate, she had to be fed with a special feeding tube every two hours. Recently, the medical team placed an esophageal feeding tube and port into her neck to ease the process.
Fiona’s gained strength and weight, but the pup still needs more time (and donations) before she can have surgery to correct her cleft lip and palate. You can follow Fiona’s progress here and make a donation.
