This is terribly sad news for the world of baseball.
Former MLB pitcher Frank Castillo passed away this weekend after he drowned during a boating trip in Phoenix, Arizona.
Frank and one of his friends decided to spend their sunday afternoon at Bartlett Lake, but when he decided to jump in the water for a swim, he never resurfaced. Local authorities recovered his body the next day.
Castillo’s family released a statement on the sad news, saying:
“Frank was a wonderful son, terrific brother, and an extraordinary father to his two beautiful girls. Everyone who knew Frank loved Frank. We are devastated by this loss.”
Throughout his 13-year career, he played for 6 different teams including the Chicago Cubs, the Florida Marlins, and won a World Series ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2004.
Frank was only 44 years-old at the time of his death.
We send all of our thoughts and support to his family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
