Gayle King Gets Frank As Fuck About The 'Very Painful' Charlie Rose Sexual Misconduct Allegations

The Charlie Rose sexual harassment scandal has left Gayle King shook.
And rightfully so. As we previously reported, after eight women came forward to accuse Rose of sexual misconduct, King and fellow CBS This Morning co-anchor Norah O’Donnell made sure to address the scandal head on. However, as Charlie has worked alongside Gayle at CBS since 2012, the news coverage was certainly a painful experience.

In fact, the celebrated journalist even contemplated canceling her appearance on Stephen Colbert‘s The Late Show as she knew she’d have to discuss Charlie’s drama once more. On how she’s coping with her friend’s fall from grace, King shared with Colbert:

“It still isn’t easy [to talk about]. It’s still very painful. It’s still very hurtful. When you think about the anguish of those women, despite the friendship, you have to report the news.”

What an uncomfortable position to be in. Oprah Winfrey‘s bestie even admitted that she couldn’t stop “wincing” during Stephen’s monologue, which featured jokes about Charlie. Nonetheless, Colbert perfectly put it when he noted:

“You did your job this morning, and I did mine tonight.”

Hear! Hear! And it appears as though Gayle is still processing the controversy, as she relayed:

“I’m a variety of emotions. There’s certainly some anger, there’s some sadness, there’s compassion, there’s concern… I can tell you I’m one thing. I’ll tell you what I am is raw.”

Still, Gayle is handling this scandal well as she’s since applauded the brave women who’ve spoken out against 75-year-old newsman. The TV personality concluded:

“If anything changes in this, what I do hope is that people will speak up. Women are no longer afraid to speak up, but the best part about it is they are now being believed.”

Rose has been fired from CBS AND his self-titled PBS show has been canceled. Be sure to watch Gayle’s sit down with Stephen for yourself (below)!
