J.K. Simmons Didn't Get Buff For Justice League After All -- Find Out The Real Reason He's So Ripped!

no title
A couple weeks ago, the internet went CRAZY when a JACKED picture of J.K. Simmons — who’s taking on the role of Commissioner Gordon in the Justice League movie — popped up online!
After such a grim, dour take on DC Comics heroes in Batman v Superman, many fans assumed Simmons was getting jacked for a different take on Batman’s law enforcing partner!

Well apparently, there’s not a whole lot of truth behind Gordon being RIPPED in the new comic book movie.
The 61-year-old actor revealed to Business Insider that the picture popping up is “all coincidental.”
J.K. explained the photo was actually taken at the end of April and he has since shaved his beard which was for a role in the film I’m Not Here.
The Whiplash star did say that that Jim Gordon will pretty much look like the other versions of the character we’ve seen adding:

“I’m not going to mess with something that iconic.”

If that’s the case, we’re DEFINITELY interested to see what kind of prosthetics Simmons will wear to look like Gary Oldman. We kid. Clearly he’d prefer to look like Ben McKenzie. Ha!

The Oscar winner went on to explain the REAL reason he stays in AH-Mazing shape saying he noticed back in 1997, while starring in HBO‘s hit series Oz, that he was not happy with his image. The veteran actor admitted:

“I was not in good shape at all. I was overweight and soft and here I am playing the head of the Aryan Brotherhood in this maximum-security prison in the first-ever HBO original drama and I was watching the first season when it came out and I just thought, ‘Wow, I don’t believe this guy at all. I have to get my a– to the gym and be a believable hard-a–.'”

Then in 2009, the J.K. let himself go and got up to 250 pounds at which point he vowed to get in better shape saying:

“After the second and final time that I got hugely fat in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life.”

Way to go, yellow M&M!
Honestly, it’s extremely refreshing to hear about an actor getting jacked and staying in shape for their health as opposed to a role they’re taking on.
What do you think of the actor’s ripped physique?!
