NFL Star Johnny Manziel Indicted On Assault Charges In Beating Of Ex-Girlfriend

The quicker they rise, the harder they fall.
Johnny Manziel shot to fame in his college career and early in his NFL days the last few years with the Cleveland Browns, but now it’s increasingly looking like the sacked quarterback may not get up for the next play.

On Tuesday morning, as we previously reported might soon be the case, Manziel was officially indicted by a Dallas grand jury on a misdemeanor assault charge related to domestic violence.
Back on January 30, Manziel allegedly struck then-girlfriend Colleen Crowley multiple times and threatened to kill her, according to police and a complaint from Crowley.
But the signal caller is back in the huddle with defense attorney Jim Darnell, and the lawyer is adamant his controversial client will be cleared:

“We certainly respect the decision of the grand jury but of course they only hear one part of the case: What the D.A. chooses to share with them. We don’t know what that was. The case will now be assigned to a court in Dallas County where the parties are able to join the issue. Johnny will certainly plead ├óΓé¼╦£not guilty’ and we believe the evidence will support that plea. Out of respect for Ms. Crowley, we will not try the case in the press. We do, however, believe that Johnny will be acquitted at the conclusion of this case.”

We’ll see about that acquittal, but it is innocent until proven guilty…
Either way, Manziel’s football career is in deep, deep trouble — and that pales in comparison to some of the serious things he’s facing with this assault charge and other issues off the field…
Let’s just hope at some point, he gets some much-needed help.
