Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently shared a great pic of himself on his Facebook!
No, it wasn’t a sexy, shirtless selfie or anything fun…
It was of him as Edward Snowden!
…in military fatigues??
We thought Snowden worked for the CIA?! JGL shared the pic (above) and wrote:

“First day of shooting on Oliver Stone’s “SNOWDEN.”
I was surprised when I first learned this about Snowden–that he enlisted in the US Army in 2004. He wanted to go fight in Iraq, but during basic training at Fort Benning, he broke both of his legs and received an administrative discharge. After that, he was still determined to serve his country (love him or hate him, you gotta admit the guy’s strong-willed) and so he ended up getting a job at the CIA, which is where his career in Intelligence began.
Today’s scenes felt like a really good way to start this shoot. It was hard, but of course, nowhere near as hard as real basic training. And me, I’m just honored and excited to be doing a soldier sequence with Oliver. I keep saying to myself: “fuck, this guy directed Platoon!”

Ha! He sure seems excited for his new role! We bet he’s gonna be perfect.
Speaking of exciting news… the real Edward Snowden is apparently interested in returning home to the U.S.!
As long as he’s guaranteed a fair trial of course! He’s allegedly working with American, German and Russian lawyers.
Snowden’s Russian lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, said:

“I won’t keep it secret that he… wants to return back home. And we are doing everything possible now to solve this issue. There is a group of U.S. lawyers, there is also a group of German lawyers and I’m dealing with it on the Russian side.”

Wow, so Snowden might come home to face the music?

The U.S. Justice Department sure would love that! Their spokesperson Marc Raimondi said:

“It remains our position that Mr. Snowden should return to the United States and face the charges filed against him. If he does, he will be accorded full due process and protections. [But] Snowden is not a whistleblower. He is accused of leaking classified information and there is no question his actions have inflicted serious harms on our national security.”
