Oprah Told Paul McCartney Not To Collab With Kanye West Over His Use Of The N-Word!

We’re just lucky the collab happened anyways!!
Paul McCartney appeared on BBC Radio 4‘s show Mastertapes to discuss his career with host John Wilson, and over the course of a 45-minute interview where the former Beatles singer revealed so much about his life and times, he also tipped off one VERY inneresting modern day tidbit!

McCartney revealed to Wilson that All Day — the hugely popular track on Kanye West‘s The Life Of Pablo — nearly never made it to the public after the rock star was advised by Oprah Winfrey, of all people, NOT to work with Yeezy!
Oprah had gotten on Paul’s case because, as he tells it, she didn’t approve of ‘Ye’s use of the ‘n-word,’ and she strongly angled McCartney not to collaborate with the rapper.
The British musician revealed:

“I get this track back, a thing called ‘All Day’: [Kanye] has taken my melody and he’s made it seriously urban, which is funny because the lyrics use the N-word — a lot! People like Oprah, who’s a little conservative about that stuff, said, ├óΓé¼╦£You shouldn’t do it, even black people shouldn’t use that word.’ I said, ├óΓé¼╦£Yeah, but it’s Kanye! And he’s talking about an urban generation that uses that word in a completely different way.’ It’s the context. So I was actually pleased with it.”

McCartney carried on, too, dishing out a little more of his personal thoughts on the FourFive Seconds rapper:

“I love Kanye, and he loves me. He’s a monster — he’s a crazy guy who comes up with great stuff, so he inspires me.”

He’s not wrong about that…!
Fortunately, the two of them looked past Oprah, even if only for the album.
