How To Keep Your Active Puppy Safe At The Dog Park

Socializing your dog from a young age is very important.
The average dog gets tons of time meeting new humans.
But not all dogs get a lot of one on one time with other dogs.
And that can lead to a human-friendly pup, who either is overly aggressive or afraid of other dogs.
So how do you keep a happy, hyper puppy safe while socializing at a dog park?
Number one, don’t take a puppy under four months to a dog park. They’re still susceptible to disease because they’re not fully immunized yet.
Another problem could be if an older dog is aggressive towards your pup, it could traumatize them during an important stage in their dog on dog social development.
You should introduce your dog to a friend’s or neighbor’s dog, if you know that dog to be friendly, just so you can test the water and see how your pup will react.
Checking out the dog park solo beforehand is a good idea too, so you can gauge how the other dogs play with each other, off-leash roughhousing or just friendly butt sniffing.
Also, if you eventually take your lil pooch to the unleashed dog area, make sure to take them off the leash.
A leashed dog around unleashed ones can create hostility and aggression.
Basically, just watch out for your pup and make sure the other doggies are nice and you’ll both have a great time.
