Well, this is an odd twist.
Ever since the college admissions scandal broke, one of the most controversial aspects has been the status of the students.
Their parents were indicted on charges of bribing school officials to help boost their standardized test scores or otherwise cheat their way in — but should that mean they get kicked out of their universities?
With Lori Loughlin‘s daughters, that seemed to be a foregone conclusion.

From everything we’ve heard, Isabella Rose and especially Olivia Jade were never really interested in going to college in the first place. Olivia in particular seemed far more interested in her nascent career as an influencer — she was approaching 2 million YouTube subscribers when this whole thing broke.
So it seemed obvious they would drop out of their own volition. Heck, if just to escape more shame.
Surprisingly, it turns out that isn’t even a possibility right now!
USC released an update this week to their student body and parents about just how they are handling the scandal. They wrote:
- An internal investigation is continuing, including a thorough review of the student-athlete admissions process; we are continuing to update our procedures related to admissions review of student-athletes.
- We are conducting a case-by-case review of any students who may be associated with the alleged admissions scheme.
- USC has placed holds on the accounts of students who may be associated with the alleged admissions scheme; this prevents the students from registering for classes (until they have agreed to participate in the review of their case), withdrawing from the university, or acquiring transcripts while their cases are under review.”
They can’t withdraw from the school AT ALL??
So totally unfair! It’s like they’re in prison or something! Oh. Sorry, Mom…
OK, so it’s not that serious. After all, no one is making them attend classes — in fact they can’t register for more at the moment.
One other inneresting tidbit about the school’s investigation into the scandal:
“Among many factors investigators could consider in reviewing each case are any developments in the criminal cases, including plea deals by parents.”
Hint, hint, Aunt Becky!
In case you hadn’t seen, just this week Felicity Huffman came forward and announced she would be pleading guilty, along with a couple dozen other defendants.
Shortly afterward we learned Lori and hubby Mossimo Giannulli rejected the plea deal!
Apparently the celeb parents thought spending around two years in prison was unacceptable. Federal prosecutors countered by ADDING A FELONY CHARGE of “conspiracy to commit money laundering.”
Now Lori and Mossimo are facing closer to five years even if they cop a plea. And time is running out to do that!
Will they give in? Even if they do, we can’t imagine it’ll help the case for Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose to stay at USC.
Especially if investigators come to the conclusion THEY WERE IN ON THE SCAM!
