Is Lori Loughlin still in denial about the looming consequences of her involvement in the nationwide college admissions scandal?! It seems so.
A source close to the Fuller House star recently told Us Weekly that Loughlin is growing more convinced by the day that she’ll never actually see the inside of a prison cell after all.

Despite the salacious headlines — and heaps of evidence the prosecution has implicating her and her husband Mossimo Giannulli in the bribery scheme — the 54-year-old actress believes she will be able to return to her normal life once everything blows over.
The source dished:
“[Lori] reads everything that’s written about her and it’s killing her that her squeaky-clean reputation has done a total 180. She thinks she’s not going to serve jail time and [will] return to work.”
Uhh, we’re not so sure about that last part!
As we reported, the actress and her designer husband are facing charges of mail fraud and money laundering conspiracy. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison on each charge. The couple pleaded not guilty last month, and previously turned down a plea deal because it included jail time.
It’ll certainly be impossible to “return to work” if you’re behind bars, and it’s a bit alarming that Loughlin still doesn’t seem to grasp the reality of this when her peer Felicity Huffman — who actually admitted her fault in the scandal from the start — is facing real jail time, too.
Even with all of that, it sounds like Loughlin and her legal defense team are staying on their toes and paying close attention to Huffman’s court proceedings for insight to their own strategy.
A source close to the couple told People that the Lori and Mossimo “carefully monitored” Felicity’s court appearance on Monday, as well as any social media and news reports connected to college admissions case.
The source shared:
“Lori is watching Felicity’s case very closely. She’s relieved that it doesn’t look like the prosecution is making an example of Felicity, and is adhering to the law.”
It’s important to keep in mind that the Desperate Housewives alum hasn’t received her official sentencing yet, which is slated for September 13. So, we wouldn’t jump to conclusions about whether or not Lori will face a similar relaxed or harsh approach from the prosecution since we don’t know their final decision yet.
The source continued:
“Her big worry was that she would be treated unfairly as one of the more famous people involved in the case. She’s afraid of being penalized for her fame, but it looks like prosecutors may be making a good faith effort to treat each defendant fairly.”
Famous or not, it’s clear the woman will still have to answer for her crimes. It’s hard to say if things will play out the way Lori hopes. But the couple has been adamant about their rock-solid defense over the last few weeks, so we’ll see!
