New Diet Drug: Lose Up To 10%

Qsymia
This is fascinating.
Let us start out by saying nothing will ever replace hard work — we’re talking diet and exercise, the tried and true way to stay healthy.
But if you need help getting started, the government just approved a new drug that could help you lose up to 10% of your body weight.
That’s more than any other approved obesity medication.
It’s called Qsymia (pronounced kyoo-sim-ee-uh), and it works by suppressing appetite and increasing the feeling of fullness.
Like we said, it works best with a diet and exercise plan. The drug used to be called Qnexa, and some experts are concerned that the drug raised the heart rates slightly in some patients.
This drug is NOT for people who want to lose a few pounds — it’s for those who are overweight, obese, or need to lose weight because of diabetes.
Here’s what one doctor said:

“There’s no free lunch. Many dieters will have to pay for Qsymia out of pocket and, to obtain their best results, they’ll need to work at changing their eating and activity habits. Dieters should expect as much from themselves as they do from medications.”

Unfortunately, he’s referring to the fact that insurance companies are not going to be covering the drug right off the bat — but the drug company claims the price won’t be “outrageous.”
We feel like their definition for that word is going to be way different than the rest of ours.
We’ll just have to wait in see, though!
