Ne-Yo Explains His Son's Name Choice

Strange…we thought he would go for Ne-Yo Jr! HA!
Ne-Yo explains why he chose Mason Evan to be the name of his son. And it’s all about respect.
The singer wanted his second child to have a strong name and stuck with the conventional choices of Mason and Evan.
Ne-Yo says the following about his choice:

We needed him to have a name that felt like a gentleman, like somebody you have to respect.
Mason Evan Smith, you have to respect that name.

As for being a stage dad, Ne-Yo won’t be the type of father that pushes his child into stardom. He says that keeping his daughter off the pole and son off the corner are his only priorities.
